3D elokuvat ja tv / 3D movies and TV

3D-merirosvoleffan ongelma on pimeys. Suuri osa leffan kohtauksista tapahtuu yöllä tai muuten vaan pimeissä tiloissa ja tätä pitäisi katsoa tummien 3D-lasien kanssa.Välissä teki mieli katsella ilman laseja vaikka osa kuvasta olikin sitten sössöä. Ja miksi tekstitys oli keltainen?

Samaan aikaan kotona on tarjolla Ranskan avoin tennisturnaus Eurosport 3D-kanavalta. Meilläpä sattuu olemaan Samsungin 3D TV. Telkkarin mukana tuli yhdet lasit, joten siinäpä on 3D-elämystä yhdelle katsojalle kerrallaan.

We went to see Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides 3D during the weekend because I had some expiring tickets to use. The movie plot did not let down expectations but this time I was disappointed with 3D. According to tickets put away we have been to the movies 2-4 times per year during last couple of years. Out of these 3D experiences have been: Ice Age 3, Avatar, Toy Story 3 and now On Stranger Tides. More fun with the same money or something like that. 3D-Pirate movies' problem was darkness. Most of the scenes take place at night or in some dark spaces and this is supposed to be watched through dark 3D glasses. At times I wanted to watch without the glasses even though part of the picture was scrambled. And why did they have yellow subtitles?

At the same time at home we have French open on Eurosport 3D channel We happen to have a Samsung 3D TV. The TV came with one set of glasses, so there is a 3D experience for one (watcher at time). Tennis as a sport probably isn't a coincidence as a first 3D TV trial and it does work. The players seem tiny when the TV screen displays the whole field from behind the server. The players, net, ball and the ball boys and girls are very well shown in the depth perception. But the spectators in the background get a bit blurry. Especially the picture is very bright and the fact that tennis is playd in the bright sun light helps. I'm not a tennis fan so I can't tell if tennis is nicer to follow in in 2D or in 3D.

Addition: Even though we have Full HD TV we don't have a Blueray player (yet). So we haven't been able to watch 3D movies at home.
